TruCDP is a one ingredient supplement which aims to increase attention and general cognition. It’s sold by PES (Physique Enhancing Science), a company from Largo, Florida. They’re one of the larger supplement companies and have been around for at least 5 years. With this supplement, they imply TruCDP is the ultimate nootropic. The company says most brain boosters seek to increase choline in the brain, so they made a choline-only product.
TruCDP contains the following ingredients: CDP-Choline (250 mg)
Each capsule contains 250 mg of CDP-Choline, its only nootropic ingredient. This can convert into choline and uridine, two useful substances. Choline is a water-soluble nutrient often grouped with B vitamins. It’s an essential nutrient in humans and many other animals, who can’t produce it themselves. It helps with structural integrity in cells, regulating some liver health, and more. It may have cognitive boosting effects too, because it can help neurotransmitter production. There aren’t a lot of reliable studies on the effects of choline, although it may have a wide variety of uses, and can be found in a considerable number of nootropics. It may be especially important for women who are about to become pregnant, or are pregnant, because it could reduce chances of certain birth defects.
A typical serving of choline is 250 to 500 mg. A serving does vary by individual, and most people will start out with supplementing 50 to 100 mg a day. Some people may need more than 500 mg a day – if you’re not sure how much you should take, go with a small dose, and/or consult with your doctor. It’s also worth mentioning that you can get choline from various foods. Most adults only need 425 to 550 mg of choline a day, and the average diet supplies 200 to 600 mg.
- No filler ingredients or things with unproven benefits. What you see is what you get.
- You only need to take one capsule a day. Some supplements ask customers to take multiple pills a day, which is annoying and inconvenient.
- On the company website, they say “The majority of the ingredients contained within our supplements are not featured on major prohibited substances lists, however PEScience does not monitor banned substance lists and are not responsible for any negative results.”
- TruCDP is no longer listed on the company website. It may not be produced anymore, although you can still find it on other sites.
There aren’t many reviews, and PEScience doesn’t appear to sell this supplement anymore. It’s unclear if it’s worth buying TruCDP, especially at the high price some retailers have it. PEScience’s target customers are generally athletes and people extra interested in fitness, but just about anyone could potentially get some benefits out of TruCDP. You can take two capsules a day, because CDP-Choline does provide benefits in amounts of 500 mg daily. But will you want this particular supplement? That’s up to you. This is likely a good product but it’s remarkably expensive considering its simplicity.
