Silk Fibroin is a type of protein created by silkworms in the process of silk production. The product is manufactured by Huzhou Aotesi Biochemical, a Chinese company which claims to be a leading manufacturer of silk protein, silk amino acids, silk fibroin, silk peptide, silkworm pupa powder, distillate of male silkworm, etc in China. Also, the manufacturer claims all their products are natural green organic.

Silk emitted by the silkworm consists of two main proteins, Sericin and Fibroin. Fibroin is the structural center of the silk, and Sericin the sticky material surrounding it. There is a large applicability of Silk Fibroin, from health care food products, to liver protection from alcohol to skin and hair cosmetics.

Silk Fibroin is sold exclusively in bulk.

Facts

1) Silk Fibroin Quick Facts

Silk Fibroin contains 18 kinds of amino acids, among which we mention L-Glycine, L-Serine and L-Alanine. Amino acids are the smallest unit of proteins and are useful components in a variety of metabolism functions.

Due to its properties, Silk Fibroin has been investigated for a number of applications. For instance, Silk Fibroin films were developed for acceleration of wound healing and could be peeled off without damaging the newly formed skin. Also Silk Fibroin is considered a suitable material for skeletal tissue engineering due to its good oxygen and water-vapor permeability properties and its minimal inflammatory reaction in vivo.

Silk Fibroin research is still in its early stage, but it has been proved to improve liver function and less the drunken possibility, reduce sugar content in blood and prevent aging. Also, it is an excellent health care food additive (widely used in biscuits, candies, soybean products, noodles, ice creams, beverages) as well as a popular ingredient in cosmetics designed for the skin or for hair.
