Seredyn is a supplement designed to relieve anxiety, insomnia and panic attacks through a proprietary formula that supports the brain’s natural ability to relax. BioNeurix, the company behind this brain supplement, is a U.S. producer and distributor of several dietary supplements.
Although the manufacturer does not provide scientific proof for the product’s professed benefits, it does make public the results of an informal survey the company has conducted. For the purpose of the study, the website visitors and consumers were asked to answer several questions: 133 Seredyn customers responded and participated in an online questionnaire based survey. According to the company, they were not compensated in any way. The study concluded that 93% of users suffering from occasional anxiety experienced positive results, whereas 85% of respondents with chronic anxiety said the product helps them relax. In case of social anxiety 82% of users reported positive results.
However, these results should be treated with caution and do not substitute the results of a controlled clinical trial. The manufacturer claims the supplement works as fast as after a single dose. This is a rather bold statement for a product based on a mix of amino-acids and plant extracts.
Seredyn includes the following ingredients: L-Theanine, Passion flower, Valerian, Niacinamide (200 mg), magnesium taurinate (14 mg), gelatin, rice powder, and magnesium stearate.
Seredyn is a proprietary blend consisting of herbal ingredients, vitamins and the amino-acid L-theanine. The plant extracts (Valerian and Passion Flower) are rather common ingredients in products that claim to treat insomnia and anxiety related symptoms. These two herbal extracts are known for their natural sedative and antidepressant properties and are usually found together in products similar to Seredyn.
The formula is completed by L-theanine, an amino-acid with psychoactive properties. It works to reduce stress by increasing the overall level of the brain neurotransmitter GABA. In response, the body will not experience feeling of anxiety, insecurity, panic and depression which are triggered by low levels of GABA.
The main ingredients in the formula are, individually, recognized as safe. FDA actually confirmed L-theanine “generally recognized as safe” and Valerian and Passion flower are also likely safe when taken as recommended and for limited periods of time. Nonetheless, there are potential Seredyn side effects which may include: drowsiness, stomach sensitivity, restlessness, headache, low blood pressure and others.
Valerian is frequently used in formulas that promote sleeplessness solutions, while also proving certain beneficial effects against anxiety and stress (psychological particularly). Passion flower has been credited with anxiolytic benefits (generalized anxiety disorder and others), and effectiveness against ADHD and sleep problems.
Seredyn reviews from consumers are available in large numbers both on the manufacturer’s website and on other websites. While some further recommend Seredyn for anxiety, panic attacks and sleep problems, there are others who report no effects.
The daily recommended dose is one or two capsules. The company has a 60 day return policy, while also offering other promotional benefits (particularly for larger volumes purchased).
- The ingredients in the product are individually recognized as safe;
- The manufacturer provides the results of a company conducted survey, which should however be treated with caution;
- A 60 day return policy is available for the formula, while promotions such as free shipping for more than 2 products purchased are also available;
- The formula benefits from a dedicated website, with complete information on benefits, side effects, usage, clinical evidence for effectiveness, etc.
- The product is not clinically tested or scientifically proven effective, as most dietary supplements;
- The product contains ingredients common to similar products, thus the formula is not unique;
- The product is not FDA approved, as most dietary supplements;
- The product has received mixed reviews from consumers;
- Potential Seredyn side effects may occur, including some more serious ones.
Seredyn may work if we consider the ingredients included in the formula and their sedative related properties, in some cases even scientifically proven. However, Seredyn reviews are mixed, as is the case for other herbal products. The effectiveness of Seredyn – in what concerns anxiety and other similar conditions – and the extent of its impact is a subjective assessment and varies from one patient to another, so perhaps it is best to first see a healthcare provider before starting treatment.
Still, it should be mentioned that Seredyn may be considered a safe brain supplement, since little to none side-effects have been associated to the main ingredients of the formula.
