Potassium is a dietary supplement formulated to provide the necessary Potassium to maintain the overall health and prevent or treat disorders associated with a potassium deficiency.

The formula is manufactured and packed in Florida, USA, by Alfa Vitamins Laboratories, a company active in the dietary foods industry since 1994. The company exports a wide range of products in various forms to 51 countries.

Most importantly, the manufacturer operates in agreement with the FDA, Department of Agriculture, and USP rules and regulations. The manufacturing, assembly, and packaging technologies are claimed of the highest quality and to benefit from specialized supervision. A team of professionals ensures that the quality standards are kept in all stages of the manufacturing process.

This supplement is designed for adults interested in maintaining their health by providing their bodies with the necessary amounts of Potassium.

This may prevent heart disease, bone, stomach, and neural affections, although the manufacturer does not detail the benefit claims. Researchers have described many other health benefits of this essential compound and are supported by medical papers and trials.

Potassium is most beneficial when taken by people who suffer from a deficiency of the substance. Still, it may also prevent a deficiency from occurring.

Summary

1) What is Potassium?

This supplement is a mineral-based formulation.

Potassium falls into the category of essential electrolytes. These substances conduct electricity, hence facilitating the normal function of many vital organs and cells.

Potassium is the major positive ion found inside human body cells. Dietary sources rich in this mineral include fruits (spinach, bananas, kiwi, orange juice, cantaloupe, dried apricots, avocado, etc.), nuts (almonds, soybeans), dairy (nonfat milk, light yogurt), and meat (salmon).

Potassium deficiency (also known as hypokalemia) results in several serious health concerns: abnormal heart beat (arrhythmia), muscle cramps, fatigue, general body weakness, and loss of appetite, to mention only a couple.

Deficiency may occur in excessive physical exercise, use of specific categories of drugs (that interact with this substance), or severe diarrhea (resulting in loss of electrolytes through fluids).

Potassium excess or hyperkalemia is also very dangerous, and it may occur when the kidneys are not functioning normally. Some symptoms are nausea, irregular pulse, mental confusion, low blood pressure, or sudden collapse.

The recommended dose for adults is 4,700 mg per day. The use of Potassium is considered likely safe if taken by mouth in the proper amounts. Potential side effects of Potassium are nausea, diarrhea, intestinal gas, upset stomach, etc.

Ingredients

2) Potassium Ingredients

Potassium contains the following ingredients: Potassium, Dicalcium Phosphate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Stearic Acid, Croscarmellose Sodium, and Magnesium Stearate.

3) Is Potassium Right for You?

This product is a mineral-based supplement.

Potassium is sodium bicarbonate and chloride, an essential indicator of electrolytes’ levels in the body. These substances are key elements for the cells’ vital function.

Potassium is a significant, positive ion found in the cells. Dietary sources rich in this mineral are fruits (bananas, kiwi, orange juice, cantaloupe, dried apricots, avocado, etc.), nuts (almonds, soybeans), dairy (nonfat milk, light yogurt), and meat (salmon).

When potassium levels are low (potassium deficiency), the following health issues may occur weakness in the muscles (in severe cases, paralysis may occur resulting in slow and shallow breathing), muscle stiffness, cramps, abdominal bloating (as a result of a malfunction of the muscles in the stomach and intestines), heart palpitations, malfunction of the kidneys (resulting in excessive amounts of water loss), frequent urination, numbness, or tingling.

Potassium excess is just as dangerous. It may occur as a result of malfunctioning kidneys, as Potassium is typically produced by these organs.

The recommended dose for adults is 4,700 mg/day; the exception to this dosage is breastfeeding women, who need a higher dosage.

The supplement contains only 2% of the daily recommended value, eliminating a potential overdose risk. The suggested use is one tablet per day.

As a general recommendation, Potassium should always be taken with a full glass of water or juice. There is no mentioning of any side effects for Potassium.

Health Benefits

4) Potassium Health Benefits

  • The formula comes with a relatively low price for a month’s supply;
  • The manufacturer offers partial or full refund provided;
  • The formula offers safe concentrations of the core ingredient;
  • The manufacturer offers international delivery;
  • Online purchasing is secured through a specialized program.
Precautions

5) Precautions of Potassium Use

  • There is a lack of research involving the formula;
  • Potassium may have specific side effects not mentioned by the manufacturer;
  • This is not a unique formula;
  • There is no free trial period or free samples offered for the formula;
  • Lack of reviews from consumers makes it impossible to assess its effectiveness.
Cost

6) Potassium Cost

The supplement is sold for a price close to other formulas with the same ingredient base available on the market. Shipping taxes vary according to the delivery location.

One significant advantage of the formula is that a bottle is sufficient for three months of use if consumers do not exceed the recommended daily limit. The product is available for online purchasing only on the official website. Here, the manufacturer offers discount coupons, under certain conditions.

Orders qualified for free shipping are shipped using the United States Postal Service. A full or partial refund is offered for unsatisfied customers as a part of the 100% quality assurance guarantee applied to all Alfa Vitamins Laboratories formulations.

The manufacturer offers no free samples or a trial period.

Suggested Use

7) Suggested Use

A healthy, balanced diet, incredibly rich in fruits and vegetables, should be enough for the body to achieve the proper potassium level. Potassium-based supplements should be considered precaution. They often interact with other medications, and the possibility of a potassium overdose is high.

The suggested use for Potassium is 1 tablet per day or as prescribed. No side effects or precautions are mentioned for the product.

Verdict

8) Our Verdict on Potassium

Potassium nutritional supplement is based on a single active ingredient and is not a unique formula. Many other competitors offer similar formulations in various forms.

The disadvantage of this specific formula is that there are no reviews from consumers to support their effectiveness. More so, the manufacturer doesn’t mention any clinical trials or research studies involving their supplement.

Potassium-based supplements should be considered precaution, especially because many dietary sources are rich in Potassium and accidental overdoses are likely to occur.

For a complete list of side effects and potential dangers of Potassium, you should always consult a healthcare practitioner.

This product was recommended by my physician, as my test results showed low levels of potassium. Besides these tablets, I also try eating foods that contain high amounts of potassium. It seems like this combination works for me! Good product!

Potassium from Alfa Vitamins did not have any positive effect on my health. I feel as tired and weak as I did before starting to take this supplement. If I don’t see any change in a couple of weeks I will discontinue its use.
