Norcodrene Review – 8 Essential Things to Know
Norcodrene is a dietary supplement for energy, fat burning, improving mood, and reducing stress. It’s sold by Florida company PEScience (also known as PES, Physique Enhancing Science). They’re one of the larger supplement companies around and appears to have been founded in the spring of 2011. Unfortunately, there isn’t much else in the way of information. Their website doesn’t have an “about us” page, and they seem interested in talking about who they are. They are, however, fairly active on social media. This is a reputable enough company who is interested in supplements for sports nutrition.

1) What is Norcodrene?
Norcodrene includes caffeine (100 mg) and 5 other nootropic ingredients. PEScience’s proprietary blend is a 425 mg combination of L-Theanine, Aframomum Melegueta Seed Extract, and two other nootropics. Some companies note that by combining caffeine with L-theanine, you can get a better overall experience. Since L-theanine regulates the traditional effects of caffeine, this may be a healthier and more effective than simply drinking coffee or an energy drink. The combination has been the subject of various clinical trials demonstrate its effectiveness. The amount of L-theanine should exceed the amount of caffeine for maximum potential, often in a two to one ratio. Unfortunately, this product doesn’t tell us how much L-theanine is included. If there’s 100 mg of caffeine, then there should be 200 mg of L-theanine for maximum effectiveness.
2) What’s Inside Norcodrene?
Norcodrene contains the following ingredients: Chromium (100 mcg), Norcodrene (425mg), Proprietary Blend: Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) (leaf) Extract, L-Theanine, Aframomum Melegueta (seed) Extract, Kola Nut Extract, Caffeine Anhydrous (100 mg).
3) Does Norcodrene Work?
One capsule of Norcodrene gives you 100 mg caffeine, 100 mcg chromium, and 425 mg of a nootropic proprietary blend. This blend includes ingredients like lemon balm and kola nut extract. Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) works a bit like L-theanine, smoothing out or eliminating the jittery effects caffeine can sometimes have. Lemon balm can increase calmness, reduce anxiety, and improve memory. In larger amounts it can have a sedative anti-stress effect.
Chromium is a mineral that’s essential in small amounts, because of how it aids bodily functions. 20 to 35 mcg is the recommended daily amount for most people, although some will need more, especially diabetics. Unfortunately large amounts (200 mcg or more daily) can lead to side effects, so amounts need to be carefully moderated. Negative effects can include headaches, dizziness, nausea, and mood changes. Too much chromium can also do the opposite of what it promises high doses have been linked to impaired thinking, poor judgment, and lessened hand-eye coordination. Chromium is usually considered safe in people of all ages and inclinations, and no users of this product have reported side effects.
4) Norcodrene: Pros and Cons
- The overall formula is decent, and has been improved from a previous version. It appears safe and effective.
- Inexpensive if you take 1 to 2 capsules a day, which is what most users will do.
5) What You Need to Know Before Taking Norcodrene
- Contains caffeine, which is normal for thermogenics, but some people would prefer a stimulant free supplement. You also can’t use Norcodrene with any caffeinated products or alcohol. There are a considerable number of limitations. You’ll want to consult your doctor before using this product.
- Gelatin capsules with artificial colors (Yellow #6, Green#3).
6) Norcodrene Price
It seems a little expensive at first glance, but it depends on your tolerance. Bottles come with 90 capsules and users will take 1 to 3 capsules within a 24 hour period. PEScience says that after taking this supplement for 8 weeks (50 to 60 days) you need to not use it for 4 weeks (one month). So for a 3 month period, you will need 1 to 2 bottles. The price will be inexpensive or above average depending on your needs. PEScience does have a money back guarantee, but they don’t state if there are any exclusions. Various retail websites sell Norcodrene, and some offer free shipping.
7) Norcodrene Directions
Aframomum melegueta (sometimes referred to as Grains of Paradise or alligator pepper) is a spice similar to ginger. It’s not well studied, and the only human trial used 10 mg daily. It may increase metabolism, which can burn fat. Unfortunately, this study also used cold exposure, so it’s uncertain how much fat burning Aframomum melegueta did. Cold exposure increases your metabolism because your body burns fat to keep itself from freezing. Aframomum may have interactions with medications, increase testosterone, and might inhibit fertility in women. If you’re not sure about using Norcodrene, ask your doctor first.
8) Our Bottom Line
Norcodrene could potentially be a good fat burner, especially combined with exercise. It has some limitations, for example not consuming any other sources of caffeine while taking this supplement. But if that’s not an issue for you, and you find Norcodrene at a good price, it can be a good buy. Reviews and testimonials are generally positive, and people say this product does what it promises. It increases energy, can help regulate mood, and may improve metabolism to lose unwanted weight.
