This is a popular and experienced manufacturer that offers a boar spectrum of natural remedies for various health claims. The company’s products have a generally good reputation among consumers of dietary foods. They claim to use superior ingredients that meet current Quality Assurance and GMP quality standards. The final products are also tested for quality throughout the entire manufacturing process, to ensure their safety and potency.

Vitamin D3 comes in a total of four different types. Three of them are offered in a softgel form advertised as easy to swallow rapid-release supplements. The available concentrations are of: 1,000IU, 2,000IU, and 5,000IU of vitamin D3 per serving. The fourth formula comes as tablets providing a total of 400IU per tablet making the product suitable for those who want to maintain proper levels of vitamin D3.

Vitamin D3 is not designed for children and should be kept out of their reach. The formula does not contain any artificial colors, flavors, sugars, or preservatives, and other ingredients known to cause allergies in more sensitive people.

Synopsis

1) Vitamin D3 at a Glance

Nature’s Bounty formulation offers one of the two active types of vitamin D, namely Cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3. This is a substance with many benefits for the overall health that have also been tried to be demonstrated through numerous clinical studies and medical research.

Vitamin D3 is the main substance required for proper Calcium absorption. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the skeleton. Insufficient amounts of vitamin D in the body, result in the body’s incapacity to synthesize adequate amounts of calcium needed for numerous bodily processes. To support all these processes, the body will get the necessary Calcium from the deposits in the bones, reducing their strength and thus increasing the risk of bone fracture and other unwanted side effects. Vitamin D supplementation is recommended as the best alternative to support healthy levels of this chemical. It is also considered a safe and very effective option for those who are unable to get enough sunlight (people living in Nordic countries particularly, people with darker skin). Vitamin D supplements are also recommended during cold seasons when sun exposure is reduced due to weather conditions.

Vitamin D3 benefits also target the cardiovascular and immune systems and is believed as an essential nutrient in preventing different types of cancers. Vitamin D3 side effects are usually triggered when excess amounts are present in the blood. These include allergic reactions, swelling in the face, lips, or tongue, difficulty breathing, changing in behavior, metallic taste, nausea, or vomiting.

Bottom Line

7) Our Bottom Line

Vitamin D3 is a single active ingredient formula that is offered by one of the major dietary supplements’ manufacturers today. The formula is not unique, as vitamin D supplements are some of the most popular products of this type used and recommended. This may be because the natural sources for this vitamin are relatively limited. Poor nutritional habits (consumption of highly processed food preferred to healthier, unprocessed edibles) and the increased use of sun blocking products have reduced considerably the amounts of vitamin D which can be naturally assimilated.

Supplements containing this vitamin, in combination, or alone, have become increasingly more popular in recent years. People who want to buy Vitamin D3 supplements are offered a broad spectrum of options. A large number of manufacturing companies offer such supplements, many times in different concentrations, forms, and quantities.

However, these remain unapproved supplements, and given the fact that unwanted side effects are likely to occur in case of inappropriate use, it is recommended to consult a healthcare practitioner before starting to use Vitamin D3.

Nature’s Bounty formula was in my case, a life savior. My doctor told me that if I did not increase my Calcium levels I could have serious problems. He recommended this brand because he thought to be one of the best supplements available. I repeated the blood tests a couple of months later, and they were great. And I feel better than ever!
