Homocysteine Fighter Review
Homocysteine Fighter is a formula advertised to provide cardiovascular and nerve protection and promote brain function by supporting healthy homocysteine levels. The formula is manufactured by the American company Only Naturals. Homocysteine is a non-protein amino acid and a powerful risk factor in cardiovascular disease and neuro-degeneration which leads to Alzheimer’s disease or Schizophrenia.
Only Naturals has been on the market of dietary supplementation for more than 20 years. In 2011, the company has won the Best of Supplements Award offered by Better Nutrition Magazine. The company manufactures organic, kosher certified, gluten-free and vegetarian products. Additionally, the manufacturer claims that all products are manufactured under NPA’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines.
Homocysteine Fighter is designed for adult use only. The formula is also suited for vegetarians.
Homocysteine Fighter Ingredients
Homocysteine Fighter includes the following ingredients: Trimethylglycine (from beets), Folic Acid, Vitamin B-6, and Vitamin B12 (as cobalamin).
Homocysteine Fighter combines Trimethylglycine with 3 B vitamins in a formula designed to lower homocysteine levels and hence help the nervous system and the cardiovascular system. Trimethylglycine, also referred to as TMG or Betaine, serves as a methyl donor in a reaction which converts Homocysteine to Methionine. It is hence commonly used for reducing high Homocysteine levels. However, while high levels of homocysteine have been linked to cardiovascular disease and other health conditions, lowering homocysteine levels may not improve its harmful actions.
The formula also contains Folic Acid (Vitamin B-3), Vitamin B-6 and Vitamin B-12. Evidence shows that deficiencies of these three vitamins can lead to high homocysteine levels, although, again, the case of their supplementation being able to prevent conditions caused by homocysteine elevated levels cannot be made. Supplementation with Vitamin B-6, Folic acid, B12 and Trimethylglycine is indeed shown to reduce the concentration of homocysteine in the bloodstream, but not to prevent or treat the diseases caused by elevated levels of Homocysteine. Trimethylglycine supplementation side effects may include dry mouth, mild headache, diarrhea, nausea and upset stomach.
The manufacturer recommends taking 2 tablets daily with a meal. Unfortunately, there are no reviews available online to assess if the formula works or not. The manufacturer discloses no side effects or potential drug interactions for Homocysteine Fighter.
- Researched ingredients;
- Vegetarian formula;
- The formula contains no salt, sugar or starch;
- relatively low price (approximately $15 for a month and a half’s supply).
- No consumer reviews available online;
- Side effects may appear as a result of some ingredients.
Preventing cardiovascular disease and protecting brain cells and functions from deteriorating (due to various reasons such as aging or stress) is extremely important, as the number of people affected by heart and brain diseases is constantly growing. Still, the Homocysteine Fighter bases its core benefit claims on an assumption which has not been scientifically proven: lowering homocysteine levels may not improve or reduce the incidence of the diseases caused by elevated levels of homocysteine.
Therefore we think is wise that before starting using Homocysteine Fighter you consult a healthcare specialist and decide if this is the right supplement for you or there are better alternatives.
