Homeopathic Melatonin is advertised to help regulate the body’s natural rhythm and synchronize the sleep-wake cycles. The formula offered by Blue Roc is claimed to be free from sugar, starch, lactose, wheat, yeast, corn, other cereals, salt, gluten, dairy products, artificial color, flavors and preservatives.

Although the manufacturer offers limited information about the product’s core benefits and ailments it may assist with, Melatonin has been extensively researched and proven to play a major role in regulating various sleep disorders, enhancing energy, mood and overall immune system health.

The company behind Homeopathic Melatonin is Golden Glow. Unfortunately, very little information exists about the company’s background and manufacturing facilities. The company operates an official website which does not however disclose these pieces of information. According to the manufacturer, all company products are 100% manufactured in compliance with the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) rules and regulations, and are packaged in TGA (Therapeutic Goods Authority) approved facilities. Without disclosing any other information about the location of these facilities, company representatives, etc, it is difficult to assess the company’s credibility.

Pregnant and lactating women, as well as patients taking MAO Inhibitors and people suffering from a medical condition are advised to consult a healthcare provider prior to use. Homeopathic Melatonin is designed for adult use only.

Overview

1) Quick Overview

This formula contains Melatonin, a hormone naturally produced by the body in the pineal gland. Secretion of this hormone is stimulated by darkness, and inhibited during the day. Secreted directly into the bloodstream, Melatonin is able to interact with numerous parts and functions of the body, including brain, ovaries, blood vessels and gut. At brain level, the Melatonin receptors act in response and regulate sleep cycles. Other roles of Melatonin include body temperature, fertility, and heart and immune system function.

The amount of Melatonin that the body produces has a tendency to decline with age, a possible explanation to why older people have difficulties sleeping. Other sensational benefits of Melatonin have been promoted in mass press, including lowering cholesterol, healing age-related macular degeneration, anxiety, or curing cancer, however very little scientific evidence exists to support these claims. Also, the effects of melatonin on relieving insomnia and other sleep disorders are uncertain. Please be aware that insomnia may be a symptom of many disorders (neurological imbalances, psychiatric problems, etc.), and requires evaluation by a physician before any treatment is applied.

Melatonin has been shown to have antioxidant effects, which makes it a subject of interest as a potential treatment for diseases linked to free radical damage. Evidence is inconclusive regarding Melatonin’s role in the mechanisms of learning and memory.

Formula

2) What Are Homeopathic Melatonin Ingredients?

Homeopathic Melatonin includes the following ingredient: Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxy-tryptamine) 6X

3) What Does Homeopathic Melatonin Do?

Homeopathic Melatonin was designed to treat insomnia and alleviate stress and anxiety. It contains Melatonin, a hormone which is also naturally produced by our bodies to regulate the sleep-wake cycle. However, there are situations (when we are under stress when we change time zone, etc.) when our bodies do not produce adequate amounts this hormone, therefore we have a hard time falling asleep. Our brains constantly produce this hormone. Its production peaks at night, (right before when we usually go to sleep) and decreases in the morning.

Melatonin is included in most sleeping pills, as it is very useful in treating insomnia. When it is ingested, this hormone rapidly causes drowsiness. However, most of the time, it is combined with other herbal extracts or hormones which also promote relaxation. As the manufacturer states that this formula contains only melatonin, we cannot tell for sure how it will behave.

The manufacturer recommends taking 1-3 tablets three times a day or as directed by your healthcare professional. The tablets should be placed under the tongue and allowed to dissolve slowly.

Bottom Line

8) Our Bottom Line

Homeopathic medicine is a natural medicine system based on the principle of “like cures like”, meaning that it uses substances which can produce disease in a healthy person in order to determine a healing response in someone presenting with a similar disease. There is very little information available on Homeopathic Melatonin and on its manufacturer. Other than an official website and a short description of product ingredients and administration, we were not able to find anything. Melatonin has been studied and its role in regulating sleep patterns proven. However, it was not scientifically established that it assists with sleep conditions such as insomnia, hence we advise that you use this product with caution.
