BriteSHIELD Review – 8 Reasons Why
BriteSHIELD formula is a brain supplement designed to protect, detox, and restore optimal brain function to those who suffer from the negative consequences of daily stress and environmental toxins. The formula is sold under the BrainFocus label, but the official site of the company claims these products are formulated and sold by BriteSmart Company, with no reference to BriteFocus. We’re not sure if BriteSmart is a part of the company mother which could be BriteFocus or if the company’s name has changed into BriteSmart. We cannot find any information which can clarify that for us.
BriteSHIELD, along with BriteSMART (also reviewed on Brainreference.com) is a product designed to offer the necessary antioxidant protection for preventing age-related cognitive decline. The formula contains a proprietary blend called Cereprotectin. The blend is advertised as based on natural and effective ingredients clinically shown to fight against free radicals, prevent inflammation, and stop neurotoxins from affecting the brain and causing its premature aging. The manufacturer claims that BriteSHIELD and BriteSMART work synergistically and all three BriteFocus formulas (the two mentioned above and BriteSHOT) are based on natural ingredients available on the nutritional supplements market for over 20 years.

1) What is BriteSHIELD?
Vitamin B12, the first listed active substance in BriteSHIELD, is a key nutrient for the maintenance of the nervous system and brain function. The vitamin is also required in the energy production processes where it helps to convert food into glucose. It is also involved in the production of DNA and red blood cells, regeneration of bone marrow, and prevention of megaloblastic anemia. The recommended daily intake in adults is of 2.4 mcg, but this formula provides a whooping amount of 667 mcg which made us wonder if that’s not a spelling mistake. Assuming that it’s not, we searched to find what the consequences of a vitamin B12 overdose are. As it is a water-soluble chemical, the body simply eliminates the excess through urine, so there’s no actual harm in taking more than the daily recommended dose. The reason why the producer probably chose to include such a large amount of vitamin B12 is that elder individuals are known to be deficient in this nutrient. A prolonged deficiency has been shown to increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks, memory impairment- including Alzheimer’s disease, or emotional imbalance.
The proprietary blend Cereprotectin consists in various plant extracts and several nutrients known to support brain function.
Turmeric is one of the compounds in curry, the popular Indian spice. Medicinally, Turmeric was shown to be one of the most potent natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory chemicals. These properties are given by a specific class of compounds present in turmeric called Curcuminoids. The extract in BrainSHIELD is standardized to contain 95% Curcuminoids, very important information when talking about Turmeric. Natural Turmeric only contains around 3% Curcumin (the main Curcuminoid) so dietary supplementation is a far more effective method for boosting antioxidant defense.
It was observed that Curcumin absorption is facilitated by Piperine, the active chemical in black pepper. This formula also includes a patented extract of black pepper called Bioperine, which should increase the bio-availability of the active compounds in Turmeric.

3) Does BriteSHIELD Work?
BriteShield is a combination of amino acids, herbs, and vitamins. It is promoted as a product that can protect the brain from being over stimulated, from stress and anxiety, and from free radicals. According to the website, BriteShield is a “clinically tested brain health product that helps to address brain function as you age.”
The formula contains a few well-known ingredients. Vitamin B12 is a vital element in the formation of red blood cells and the maintenance of a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B12 is a key ingredient for the rapid synthesis of DNA during cell division. A low level of B12 may lead to anemia, the symptoms of which may include excessive tiredness, listlessness, breathlessness, pallor, and reduced resistance to infection, also a smooth, sore tongue, and menstrual disorders.
According to some recent researches, Quercetin may be useful in combating or helping to prevent heart disease, cancer, allergies, cataracts, and asthma. This ingredient can be found in its natural form in foods such as onions, apples, citrus fruits, black and green tea, red wine and broccoli. Quercetin has antioxidant properties.
Some side effects have been noted with the use of BriteShield. These include nausea or vomiting, headaches, insomnia, dry mouth, and irritability. According to the website, such side effects are very mild and go away within a couple of days so use.
The use of this product isn’t recommended for anyone taking medications for various mental health problems including bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. Women who are pregnant or nursing shouldn’t use this particular supplement as a precaution.
4) BriteSHIELD: Pros and Cons
- BriteSHIELD is based on active substance that were clinically studied for decades and proven effective in providing the necessary antioxidant support.
5) Precautions of BriteSHIELD Use
- A month’s supply costs $59.95, a relatively high cost considering that the product works best in combination with another Brite Focus product which costs $69.95
- There are no reviews available for online consulting at this time, and no indication that the formula is involved in a clinical trial.
6) BriteSHIELD Cost
Each bottle of BriteShield contains 60 capsules, which should be enough for two months of treatment at a recommended dosage of 1 capsule per day. This supplement is relatively cheap, and it should be available for purchase from both online and offline retailers. The cost of shipping depends on the physical address for the delivery.
7) How to Use BriteSHIELD
N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC), another ingredient found in the proprietary formula is considered an important nutrient due to its ability of restoring the levels of a key free radical scavenger, Glutathione. By doing this, NAC supports the body’s fighting mechanisms against oxidative stress which made researchers investigate the use of this compound in the prevention of various types of cancers and neurodegenerative conditions.
8) Our Verdict on BriteSHIELD
BriteSHIELD looks like a potent brain supplement that features various active substances with potential benefits on mental performance. Most of the chemicals have been investigated as possible remedies for nervous system and brain conditions, and are used on a large scale in brain supplements such as this. However, the benefit of the entire formulation is not backed up scientifically, and there is no guarantee that the proprietary blend has the ability to provide superior benefits to those offered by each ingredient. We’re not sure on what grounds the manufacturer claims their products are a breakthrough in the field, when there’s no actual evidence to support that claim.

Among the ingredients that can be found in BriteShield are Turmeric Extract, R Lipoic Acid, Black Pepper Extract and vitamin B12.
In the end, we are pleased to see that BriteShield is accompanied by a wealth of information, including information on aging and brain health, stress management tactics, and elemental exercises for a healthy mind and body.
Those who are concerned only about brain toxins may be interested in this supplement. Others may prefer a more complex solution, a product that will support memory and mental acuity, as well as address the issues of stress and depression that accompany the transition into old age. We recommend those to keep searching for that solution. While BriteShield is not a dangerous supplement, its effectiveness is extremely limited.
