Brain Vigor Review – 8 Things You Should Know
Nootropics and smart drugs (such as Brain Vigor) are synthetic or natural compounds that can be used to enhance mental performance in healthy people. The word nootropic is derived from two Greek words: “nous,” which means mind, and “tropein,” which means to bend or turn[1].
Nootropics have gained popularity in today’s highly competitive society and are most often used to improve memory, motivation, focus, intelligence, and creativity.

1) Quick Overview
Brain Vigor was advertised as a potent nootropic designed to “supercharge your brain.” However, the product wasn’t popular enough in such a competitive market, and it was discontinued in 2017.
According to the producing company, American Made Nutrition, the unique and powerful mixture of ingredients in Brain Vigor was designed to provide several benefits, including:
- Enhance cognitive functions;
- Support memory;
- Increase the attention span and ability to focus;
- Help stay calm and concentrated on tasks.
2) How Did American Nutrition Start?
Brain Vigor was produced by American Made Nutrition.
American Made Nutrition is a fitness and nutrition lifestyle brand based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Started in 2016, American Made Nutrition is currently owned by the company 4DH, which also owns popular nutrition and apparel brands All American Roughneck and Axe and Sledge Supplements[2].
After discontinuing Brain Vigor in 2017, American Made Nutrition launched several new dietary supplements and training/exercise gear and accessories. Most of their new supplements are designed to support healthy weight loss, workouts, and energy.

4) Is Brain Vigor Right for You?
Brain Vigor nootropic contained several potent ingredients with proven benefits for cognitive function.
Let’s analyze some of the most important ones.
Ginkgo biloba is well-known for its antioxidant properties, and it’s used to treat various conditions, but also to support cognitive health. Most dietary supplements use extracts from the plant’s leaves, but Ginkgo seeds are also used for healing purposes, mainly in traditional Chinese medicine.
Ginkgo biloba contains flavonoids, compounds which scientists believe can defend against aging-related issues such as dementia by increasing blood flow to the brain, among other benefits[3].
Ginkgo biloba is believed to help in the prevention or treatment of the following health problems:
- Tinnitus
- Asthma
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Age-related macular degeneration
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Bronchitis
- Fatigue
- Glaucoma
- Erectile dysfunction
- High blood pressure
- Sexual dysfunction in women
- Multiple sclerosis
- Insulin resistance
- Peripheral artery disease
Also, Ginkgo biloba is said to preserve memory, as well as promote recovery from stroke.
However, research is notoriously mixed on the subject.
A 2012 meta-analysis found no evidence to prove that Ginkgo extract gives any kind of brain benefit for healthy people[4]. On the other hand, a 2017 review of studies found that Ginkgo biloba may enhance cognitive function for people with dementia[5].
There is also some speculation that Ginkgo may enhance brain function in healthy individuals. A handful of small studies support the notion that supplementing with Ginkgo may increase mental performance and perceived well-being[6][7].
DMAE (also known as dimethylaminoethanol, dimethylethanolamine, or Deanol) is hypothesized to increase acetylcholine production (a chemical that helps nerve cells transmit signals).
Since acetylcholine plays an important role in many brain functions, such as memory and learning, scientists believe that supplementing with DMAE may support cognitive functions by raising acetylcholine levels[8].
DMAE has been used with limited success to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A 2011 study[9] on dietary treatments asserted that DMAE “probably has a small effect.”
Drugs that raise acetylcholine levels have also been used to treat Alzheimer’s disease. Several clinical studies[10] have analyzed DMAE as a potential Alzheimer’s treatment.
Again, they’ve failed to show any promising results.
In addition, DMAE has been looked at to address symptoms of depression, boost athletic performance, and elevate mood[11][12]. While the first results look promising, additional research is needed.
Brain Vigor also contained Piracetam, a popular synthetic derivative of the neurotransmitter gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA), a chemical messenger that helps slow down activity in your nervous system.
Piracetam is considered the first nootropic drug of its kind, and it can still be purchased in health food stores or online and comes in both powder and capsule form.[13]
Research indicates that supplementing with piracetam may improve brain function. Though it’s unclear why, animal studies provide potential explanations.
For instance, animal studies[14][15] suggest that nootropic piracetam makes cell membranes more fluid. This aids communication between cells as it makes it easier for cells to receive and send signals.
That could be why its effects appear to be stronger in older adults[16] and people with mental issues, as research shows that their cell membranes tend to be less fluid.
5) Brain Vigor Health Benefits
Brain Vigor claimed benefits included:
- Enhance cognitive functions;
- Support memory;
- Increase the attention span and ability to focus;
- Help stay calm and concentrated on tasks.
6) Brain Vigor Side Effects
Brain Vigor was advertised as LIKELY safe when taken as recommended. However, some of its ingredients are known for inducing mild adverse effects in some users.
Piracetam, for instance, is considered safe with little risk of side effects. In long-term studies, doses of up to 24 grams daily have had no adverse effects[17].
That said, some users may still experience side effects[18], including agitation, tiredness, depression, insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, headaches, paranoia, nausea, and diarrhea.
DMAE is another excellent example, primarily since very little is known about the safety of DMAE supplements. However, there’s some concern that DMAE may induce specific side effects[19], including stomach upset, increased blood pressure, headaches, drowsiness, muscle tension, irritability, and confusion.
7) What You Need to Know Before Taking Brain Vigor
Brain Vigor contained Ginkgo Biloba extract, which is known to interact[20] with several prescriptions.
- Ibuprofen
- Medications used to prevent seizures (anticonvulsants)
- Medications that slow blood clotting (antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs)
- Medications for diabetes (antidiabetes drugs)
- Alprazolam (Xanax)
- Warfarin (Coumadin)
- Efavirenz (Sustiva)
- Buspirone (BuSpar)
- Fluoxetine (Prozac)
- Trazodone (Desyrel)
8) Conclusion
Humans are always trying to be bigger, better, and faster. In our latest attempt at self-improvement, many people turn to nootropics or similar substances to increase mental performance.
Nootropics ostensibly work by protecting neurons in your brain from becoming damaged by aging and toxins. The theory is that they increase blood and oxygen flow to your brain and stimulate neurons, which apparently leads to improvements in your focus, cognitive functions, attention span, and memory.
Brain Vigor was advertised as one such nootropic, and the ingredients used seemed to match pretty well. However, the formula wasn’t as popular as the manufacturer expected it to be – this led to the discontinuation of the product in 2017.
With technology on the rise, there’s little doubt it will soon bleed into the brain supplementation market, and, for some, it already has. But some products are already there.

Vigorboostenergy is a horrible company. I found 3 different charges on my account totaling over $200. I never even received any of their products. I called to voice my concern and they would not credit my account. Please buyer beware!
The effects were not quite what I expected. I took it for almost 2 months and it barely felt like my problems were of my head. I need something stronger.
My mother suggested me this product for my school lifestyle and it calmed me a lot. The stress that I felt from all of those chores is almost like they didn’t even exist.
It is a good product. I used it just a month and it had good results. The only problem is that it upsets your stomach if you take it without food.
I have a very stressful life. I have to work to take care of the children and have many chores on my head and I leave you without energy and this supplement helped me a lot. I hardly feel any headaches after using it.
