Brain Flex is a brain supplement specially developed to support mind, brain functions, memory and mood. This product is manufactured by Highland Laboratories, a company which has nearly 40 years of tradition in producing and commercializing natural supplements and herbal remedies. Highland Laboratories is now re-branded and the company goes by the name Mt. Angel Vitamin Company. The manufacturer takes pride in its rigorous quality assurance program that applies to both vendors and products.

According to its makers, Brain Flex’s formula is a powerful blend of top quality ingredients. Phosphatidyl serine and Phosphatidyl choline are essential for the structure and proper function of brain cell membranes. Ginkgo biloba, ginger, royal jelly and Centella asiatica are natural antioxidants that can prevent lipid peroxidation.

While we can’t argue with the fact that a proper nutrition is essential for optimal brain well-being, the ingredients listed for Brain Flex does appear to position this supplement more as a complete nutritional product than a natural stress reliever. The supplement is designed to be used by adults only.

Overview

1) Quick Overview

Brain Flex is a brain supplement that contains a series of substances that may help improve brain functions. L-Glutamine, for instance, is an amino-acid that plays a major role in aiding cerebral neuro-transmission. Another important ingredient is Acetyl L-Carnitine, an antioxidant capable of improving energy production within brain cell.

However, the manufacturer does not cite any references, studies or tests involving this particular combination that would be extremely important in properly explaining how these ingredients work together to benefit the human brain.

The formula does incorporate two very important nutrients: Folic Acid and Vitamin B12. Studies have determinated that deficiencies of these two nutrients can have a negative impact on a person’s memory capacity. Also, the manufacturer has researched the impact that the mix of Phosphatidyl Choline and Ginkgo Biloba has on human brain. These researches have shown the mix has the property of enhancing the ability of college students to recall lengthy word sequences. Some other studies conducted by the same company have suggested that Ginkgo Biloba may have some benefits for some Alzheimer’s symptoms.

2) Brain Flex Ingredients

3) Is Brain Flex Right for You?

This supplement contains several ingredients that supposedly help improve brain function. Maybe the most relevant example here is L-Glutamine, an amino acid that may play a role in aiding cerebral neurotransmission. Another key ingredient, according to the manufacturer, is Acetyl L-Carnitine, an antioxidant credited with improving energy production within brain cells. Sadly, the official website does not cite any references or clinical trials that would be helpful in explaining or supporting these purported benefits.

The formula also features two important vitamins, particularly Folic Acid and Vitamin B12. Recent studies have shown that deficiencies of these two nutrients can have a substantial adverse effect on a person’s memory capacity. Vitamin B12 may offer practical benefits in reducing depression, alleviating stress, and preventing brain shrinkage that leads to cognitive imbalances.

The mixture also contains Ginkgo Biloba, a plant with powerful memory enhancer properties. However, these properties have been debated in most recent studies. Out of the many conflicting clinical trials results, Ginkgo Biloba is shown to work by protecting against oxidative cell damage caused by free radicals, improve blood flow including brain nurturing and block of many of the effects of platelet-activating factor that have been related to the development of a number of cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and central nervous system disorders.

According to the official website, all of the ingredients have been carefully chosen to have a positive impact on the brain. Instead of working in the same way as most of the other supplements out there, Brain Flex is supposed to improve the functionality of the brain cells by increasing their energy efficiency.

Although the information on the website is comprehensive, there does not seem to be any evidence of clinical trials or independent research studies to back up these claims. One capsule of this supplement is recommended daily for optimum results.

8) Our Final Take On Brain Flex

Usually, natural supplements designed to improve mood, calm anxiety and boost daily brain functioning can offer an excellent and safer alternative to common medication. Brain Flex is a natural product and does seems to contains some vital nutrients in order to achieve the benefits it advertises. The company has conducted several studies to support their statements but these studies were conducted within the company and not by independent sources. An additional argument that supports the formula’s quality is the manufacturer’s great experience and numerous certifications that ensure the quality of their manufacturing processes.

I had to decide between this brand and an European one. I was convinced by the great reputation of the manufacturing company to be honest. I value quality very much and the price was reasonable.
