There has been a lot of buzz around this relatively new meal-replacement shakes called Almased, so we did one of our in-depth reviews, examining the ingredients, side effects, clinical research and customer-service quality.
Part of a more complex diet plan – commonly known as The Almased Synergy Diet Program – Almased is a weight loss drink developed and produced by the USA company Almased. This product relies on a specialized, all-natural drink as part of the company’s diet program.
According to the manufacturer, this weight loss supplement – but mainly their diet program – will help people lose up to 15 lbs. in 6 weeks by following a relatively simple diet that combines liquid fasting and nutritionally based meals.
Almased contains the following ingredients: Almased contains the following ingredients: Fat 1.5% (Saturated fat 0.5g, Polyunsaturated fat 0.1g, Monosaturated fat 0.4g), Sodium 340mg, Potassium 500mg, Carbohydrates 15g (Dietary fiber 0.5g, Sugars 12g), Protein 27g (L Tyrosine, L Methionine, L Cystine, L Threonine, L Tryptophan, L Leucine, L Isoleucine, L Valine, L Histidine, L Arginine, and L Phenylalanine), Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Calcium, and Iron.
To start with, Almased is a meal replacement containing a mixture of fermented soy, skim milk yogurt powder and honey enzymes. When mixed into a shake and taken twice a day, the product claims to support weight loss. According to the company, one of the features that differentiates Almased from other similar supplements is that you can consume it anywhere and it’s easy to mix.
It is important to note that Almased doesn’t include synthetic ingredients, which is a huge positive. However, according to a good number of consumers’ testimonials we found online, Almased is not exactly delicious. In fact, many customers reported quickly getting tired of the flavor. “I started Almased today and am having a terrible time making this stuff taste good enough to keep down,” said one customer online.
The lack of relevant clinical studies and trials is another concern we have. For us at BrainReference.com, being able to find documented scientific research about a supplement’s ingredients supporting brain health, weight-loss, or any other health concern, is critical to us. If there’s no good science, we see big red flags.
Almased appears to be an excellent example here. Although the official website claims the supplement is “scientifically proven,” our research team was unable to find published studies or any evidence of clinical research that speak directly to the weight-loss benefits of the ingredients in Almased’s formula.
- The formula contains all-natural ingredients;
- Unlike other weight loss supplements, Almased can be consumed anywhere and is easy to mix;
- People interested in this weight loss supplement can safely purchase it directly from its official website.
- Compared to other weight loss supplements, Almased is quite expensive, priced at $99.95 per kit or $34.95 per canister;
- The formula contains soy, skim milk and yogurt powder, making it dangerous to dieters with soy allergies or lactose intolerance;
- There are no money-back guarantees that we could find.
- Some users have complained about the mixture’s bad taste.
We believe this weight loss supplement represents a perfect example of balance between advantages and disadvantages. According to the company, the formula does not include any synthetic ingredients, which is encouraging. But in the same time, Almased does not offer any substitutes for those with soy allergies or lactose intolerance.
Almased has been on the market for a very long time (it was first released as part of The Almased Synergy Diet Program back in 1998), which is a good sign. But at the same time its weight-loss claims are not backed by published clinical studies.
One of the Amino Acids [Blend] supplements we’ve come to trust the most is HCF® Happy, Calm & Focused based on a unique FQ formula [15+ pure & effective associated neuro-nutrients] which research shows the ingredients may support memory, focus, attention, mood, and energy. People are reporting excellent results based on customer reviews we’ve seen and there is no mention of harmful side effects.

Almased was first released in 1998 as part of a more complex diet plan – The Almased Synergy Diet Program – and is a weight loss drink developed and produced by Almased, an established USA company.
Almased contains a mixture of vitamins, minerals, and several amino acids and is claimed to be one of the best weight loss drinks available on the market at this moment. While there are no studies to support these claims, and some consumers have complained about the high price and bad taste, Almased seems to maintain its position as one of the most popular weight loss supplements.
Is Almased Right For You?
Almased is a dietary supplement presented as the “Almased weight-loss phenomenon”. The formula is sold by the company with the same name founded over 30 years ago by Hubertus Trouillé, a passionate for natural medicine. The formula was the initial product developed by Mr. Trouille, and due to its success it is still produced today. Today the company produces and commercializes various supplements and expanded its business in countries like US, Canada, UK, and Switzerland. The same dedication to the initial quality standards that made the company famous are followed.
Almased formula is described as based on high-quality raw ingredients processed through a special fermentation technology that is able to preserve the integrity of these ingredients. The formula is advertised to activate metabolism, optimize the diet, and generally increase well-being.

Yogurt is also added in order to preserve the health of intestinal flora, strengthen the immune system, and support optimal digestion. Honey is another active ingredient included for its prebiotic effect and calming action on the stomach.
The supplement is free of artificial flavors, fillers, stimulants, sugars, preservatives, gluten, and genetically modified ingredients.

Effectiveness of Almased
First of all we should say that the effectiveness of the formula is not proven scientifically. Although the manufacturer describes it as a miracle working weight-loss supplement, the reality is there’s no science behind their claims.
However, looking at the ingredient list we noticed that this is an amino-acid based product. Amino acids are essential for maintain proper functions of various organs and systems and are very popular ingredients of weight-management products and nutritional supplements in general.
The manufacturer claims their formula is unique because it provides high quality ingredients that boost metabolism and support optimal function of the digestive system. The formula also ensures a high bioavailability of proteins and releases bioactive peptides. These nutrients along with all major amino-acids featured in this formula work synergistically and make this a highly potent product.
Almased is also marketed as a very low glycemic index product (GI is only 27). Because of this the formula only slightly increase blood sugar level, limiting the amount of Insulin released by the body. A low level of Insulin results in faster fat burning rates and more effective weight loss.
Those who are interested in using Almased Powder can follow the diet provided on the official site designed to maximize the benefits and reduce the amount of time in which you can achieve the desired results.
Almased formula is sold in 7.6 oz. (500 grams) cans for the price of approximately $28 per can. The suggested dose is 8 tablespoons/ serving (50 grams) but according to the recommendations of the manufacturer, the diet starts with 3 shakes daily (for a period of 3-14 days), which, at a basic math calculation means that one can will only last 3 days! This makes Almased a very expensive formula and many potential consumers will get scared by the huge cost.
Does Almased Work?
Unfortunately the only way to asses Almased’s potency is by consulting the consumers’ testimonials. We did just that and although there are numerous such reviews, many consumers have been disappointed by the taste, the lack of efficiency, occurrence of side effects, or damaged packaging. Given the high price you have to pay to even get through the first phase of 3-14 days, the negative testimonials are very important, and in this case don’t really favor the formula. Our advice is to carefully read the return policy of the company and watch out for any potential unwanted reactions that might occur while using this supplement.
