ADDTabz Review – 13 Things You Should Know Before You Buy
ADDTabz is marketed as an advanced nootropic supplement and an alternative to the prescription medication Adderall, a prescription medicine used to help increase focus in patients diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
This nootropic supplement claims to improve concentration, enhance focus, boost learning, and increase energy levels. While the official website for this Adderall alternative says there is no prescription needed, it also says the formula includes synthetic amphetamines.[1]

1) ADDTabz Quick Facts
Claimed to be the natural alternative to Adderall, ADDTabz has been in the market for quite some time.
The nootropic developed by Lexium International is intended for people looking to enhance their brain performance, focus, and attention. In short, the product is designed for students and scholars seeking a safer, over-the-counter alternative to the often-misused ADHD prescription Adderall.
Furthermore, ADDTabz is frequently advertised as “scientifically proven” to produce effects such as improved knowledge-retention, recall, and memory, while also boosting energy levels throughout the day.
But does it deliver on those promises?
2) History of ADDTabz
ADDTabz is made by Lexium International (formerly known as Gentech Pharmaceuticals).[2] Based in the United States and the U.K, Lexium International has been in operation for around 25 years.
The company claims to be the leading designer in pharmacological alternatives to provide quality and safe products. Their emphasis is pharmaceutical research, but they also sell two supplements through its official website – ADDTabz and PhenTabz, a weight loss and appetite suppressant.

- Folic Acid ([6S]-5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid glucosamine salt) 1 mg
Other ingredients include dicalcium phosphate, stearic acid, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, FD&C Red #40 (Lake), croscarmellose sodium, FD&C Yellow #6 (Lake), and pharmaceutical glaze (shellac povidone).
4) Is ADDTabz Right for You?
ADDTabz’s formula consists of Ampheta-CDP Proprietary Blend and 1 mg of Folic Acid.
There are 5 ingredients in the proprietary blend, all holding a fair share of controversies. Let’s take a quick look over some of these ingredients, starting with caffeine anhydrous.
Caffeine is a naturally occurring substance found in approximately 50 different plant species. You’re probably familiar with traditional plant sources of caffeine in beverages and foods like coffee, green tea, or dark chocolate (cacao).
Caffeine anhydrous is obtained from these plants following a chemical process. During this process, all other components of the plants, along with any water, are removed. The result is a white crystalline powder called caffeine anhydrous (anhydrous means “without water”).[3]
The most popular forms of caffeine anhydrous are powders and pills. However, the FDA recommends avoiding any pure powders.[4] There is a fine line between a safe and unsafe dose, and a small mistake in measurement could result in dangerous adverse effects.
Caffeine anhydrous works the same way as caffeine. It’s a sneaky impersonator of another chemical in your brain – a neurotransmitter called adenosine. When adenosine locks on to specific receptors in the brain, it makes you slow down and feel sleepy.[5][6][7]
Some dietary supplements sold to provide energy or support weight-loss contain synephrine as one of several constituents. Usually, the synephrine is available as a natural component of citrus aurantium (“bitter orange”).[8]
People use bitter orange for athletic performance, weight management, indigestion (dyspepsia), and several other conditions. Still, there is no good scientific evidence to support its use.[9]
Furthermore, synephrine, the active ingredient in bitter orange, is very similar to the primary chemical compound found in another herb called ephedra. In 2004, the FDA banned ephedra due to its severe effects on the heart.[10][11]
Many bodybuilding and weight loss products still contain a blend of caffeine and bitter orange, which can cause increased heart rate and high blood pressure in healthy adults. There are also concerns regarding using bitter orange long-term as some experts think it may cause heart problems.[12]
Octopamine is another chemical found in bitter orange. Octopamine can also be found in other plants and even in the human body in small amounts. The compound is typically used as an athletic performance enhancer, weight management, and stimulant.[13][14]
Octopamine is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for use during competitive sports. Yet, the substance is still present in some dietary supplements, including ADDTabz. However, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautions against its use, and it investigates whether Octopamine should be allowed in dietary supplements.[15][16]
5) ADDTabz Health Benefits
Some ADDTabz claimed benefits include:
- An over-the-counter alternative to Adderall;
- Improves focus and concentration;
- Increases mental stamina and provides energy throughout the day
6) Potential Side Effects from ADDTabz Ingredients
Despite ADDTabz being advertised as a side effects-free nootropic, some ingredients included in this formulation are associated with mild and moderate adverse effects.
Synephrine taken by itself or with stimulants such as caffeine or caffeine-containing herbs may increase the risk for fainting, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and other severe side effects. There are reports that synephrine can trigger headaches, including migraine and cluster headaches, in some people.[17]
Caffeine anhydrous is another ingredient that may cause side effects, especially in people sensitive or with low tolerance to caffeine.
Common side effects of heavy caffeine use include[18]:
- Headaches
- Jitters
- Trouble sleeping
- Restlessness
- Anxiety
- Nausea
- Lack of appetite
- Diarrhea
- Rapid heartbeat
- Chest pain
- Disorientation
7) What You Need to Know Before Taking ADDTabz
Medications for depression (MAOIs) interact with Synephrine. Some of these medications used for depression include Tranylcypromine (Parnate) and Phenelzine (Nardil).[19]
Caffeine anhydrous is known to interact[20][21] with stimulant prescriptions like Ephedrine. Taking caffeine and Ephedrine may cause too much stimulation and sometimes severe side effects and heart problems.
Caffeine is also known to have moderate interactions with many other prescription drugs and dietary supplements.
8) ADDTabz – Legit or Scam?
In 2012, the FDA began sending warning letters to supplement manufacturers selling DMAA (1, 3-dimethylamylamine), a controversial stimulant FDA has been working to remove from the market since 2012.[22][23]
In 2013, despite being warned by the FDA, Gentech Pharmaceuticals continued including DMAA in several of it’s formulations: ADDTabz and the weight-loss products PhenTabz and PhenTabz-Teen.
Starting in 2014, Gentech Pharmaceuticals began morphing into Lexium International. Lexium continues to sell PhenTabz and ADDTabz, but it has removed the DMAA from the formulation.
9) Where to Buy ADDTabz in the United States?
Online, ADDTabz can only be bought from Lexium’s website and several retailers such as eBay. However, at the time of this review, the official website was not secured, which means your purchase may not be secured either. We advise caution, and we can’t recommend buying from an online store that is not 100% secure.
10) ADDTabz Price
ADDTabz list price is $78.00 (30 tablets / one month supply). A two-bottles deal for $129.00 ($30 discount) is also available.
11) Suggested Use
For adults, take one (1) ADDTabz tablet on an empty stomach, half an hour before breakfast or lunch.
12) What the Customer ADDTabz Reviews Say
"One bottle thus far, no noticeable difference until near the last few pills. Stamina is better, yet it doesn't last very long, maybe 4 hours? I take two pills in AM on an empty stomach. One pill alone did not produce any noticeable results. " [Read full review]
---Liz
"I really like this product. It does not give me that dead focus as some talk about, but it helps me stay on task. I still procrastinate on taking it because I know when I do, it's work mode. It is the best product I have used for my ADHD with/without a prescription. I wish that the VA offered this product. It is a superior option." [Read full review]
---Michael Ivory
"The product does exactly like it's supposed to and is not only comparable to its Rx counterpart but is probably better for you!" [Read full review]

13) Our Verdict on ADDTabz
To conclude our ADDTabz review, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. While we like how this supplement may help improve your cognitive function (focus, attention, and concentration), we are never a fan of nootropics that pretend to be an efficient alternative to a drug; in this case, ADDTabz is advertised as a direct substitute to the ADHD prescription medication Adderall.
As Adderall is typically abused by scholars and students looking for brain-boosting effects, we believe that Lexium International has gone out of its way to make this nootropic look like a wonder study pill – which it is not.
It is also worth noting that this product also contains two potentially dangerous substances – Synephrine Hydrochloride and Octopamine Hydrochloride. If you decide to use this product, we highly recommend you speak to your healthcare provider before using it.
We’re all for moving toward a healthier life and we know that means optimal brain health. Making lifestyle changes is an important factor, supplementing with products that support calmness and focus is helpful too.
One of the best focus and attention supplements in 2021 is HCF® Happy, Calm & Focused. This product excels at nourishing your brain. With a unique formula of clinically proven ingredients, HCF works to make your journey towards brain health one you can stick with for the long term.
