Uridine is an element of RNA has has been used in dietary supplements as a pseudovitamin. The manufacturer, Jarrow Formulas, says uridine supports the health and function of liver mitochondria. This is in addition to other potential benefits, especially if you combine this product with others as part of a nootropic stack. Each capsule contains 250 mg of Uridine 5′-monophosphate disodium salt. Uridine is found naturally in many things, some of which we consume on a regular basis. Studies disagree on the best way to consume uridine, and why it’s important for mental health, but they do agree on the benefits. Multiple studies have found that when you combine uridine with another compound (for delivery of nutrients beyond the blood brain barrier) and certain other nutrients, it can do a lot.
Uridine monophosphate, choline, and DHA combine to form a mental enhancer that’s also effective as an antidepressant. Omega-3 fatty acids like EPA and DHA are essential brain foods as it is, so it’s not hard to imagine that this is accurate. If you take this product with a good fish oil, that seems the best way to see results in a timely manner.
- A good source of uridine. Capsules contain what’s considered to be the best amount, and the formulation of the featured compound seems proper. Uridine monophosphate (UMP) with sodium is one of the better options. If you take 1 to 2 capsules a day, that should be sufficient. You can take up to 3 or 4 capsules a day but it’s not generally recommended.

Uridine is best in conjunction with other nutrients. To make Jarrow’s Uridine supplement really effective, you have to buy other supplements, which is slightly inconvenient and cuts into your bank account. One formula tends to be better than juggling multiple products and combining them.
People say they get a lot of benefits from using uridine supplements, especially as part of a nootropic stack. They report more consistent mood, elevated energy and alertness, and decreased brain fog. One person claimed to have quit coffee after taking uridine for a couple of weeks because it was doing more. By itself, there isn’t much research about uridine to show that it’s worth taking just as a uridine supplement – you’ll probably need additional things. If Jarrow Formulas had included choline and Omega-3s in these capsules, it would be a top notch product with a lot of mental benefits.
