ThinkStraight is advertised as a combination of brain specific nutrients and herbs proven efficient in supporting a healthy brain and emotional function.

The formula marketed by ITV Venures which claims the supplement has been researched, without however providing any studies or trial results. The company was founded in 2006 in Beverly Massachusetts and is a direct response marketing company. Its declared mission is to have a positive impact on people by developing one-of-a-kind, scientifically researched, all natural products.

The herbal ingredients have allegedly been associated with inhibition of stress, increase of energy, mood enhancement, better focus, mental alertness, relaxation and restful sleep. The manufacturer offers little information on potential side effects of the product, effectiveness or mechanism of action.

ThinkStraight Ingredients

ThinkStraight contains the following ingredients: Vinpocetine, Vitamin B6, Rhodiola rosea, Ginkgo Biloba, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, T-3 Arginol Complex, L-Theanin.

Product Features

ThinkStraight is a combination of herbs, vitamins, and mineral ingredients. Vinpocentine is a synthetic compound from a natural substance found in the leaves of Vinca minor plant.

It is thought to ease blood circulation in the brain, enhance the brain’s use of oxygen and protect brain cells against damage. Vinpocentine is currently being explored as a complementary treatment for people with Alzheimer’s disease. Known but rare side effects are: indigestion, headache, dizziness, nausea, anxiety, insomnia, drowsiness and dry mouth.

Theanine (or L-Theanin) is an amino acid found in the green tea and is commonly used to treat anxiety, high blood pressure, in preventing Alzheimer’s disease and to enhance the effect of cancer medication.

A bottle contains 60 capsules. The manufacturer does not mention any recommended dose, so it is our advice to consult a healthcare professional before using this product.

Advantages

  • The T-3 Arginol Complex ingredient is an advantage over similar brain products

Disadvantages

  • Not FDA approved
  • Little general information on product (side effects, recommended use)
  • Unconvincing advertising (no information about medical staff involved in the research, clinical studies, etc)
  • Lack of consumer reviews

Conclusion

ThinkStraight is a herbal, vitamins and minerals formulation, with little differentiation from products with similar benefit claims.

Although, according to the manufacturer the formula has the advantage of the T3 Arginol ingredient which acts as a catalyst on the other ingredients, while also protecting brain cells from age related damage and stabilizing brain operations.

None of these claims are however supported by conclusive evidence or have been evaluated by the FDA. There is also a lack of consumer review which is rather disturbing; therefore we strongly recommend a physician is consulted prior to deciding taking the supplement.
