Proloftin is a dietary supplement now sold under the name Primal Calm, offered as a support in relieving stress symptoms and losing weight. The company that manufactures this formula is Primal Nutrition, however we could not find an official online page of this manufacturer. Unfortunately, we were also unable to find any information about the company’s history, line of products or manufacturing policies and facilities, which is rather odd since an online presence greatly establishes a company’s commitment to its business goals.

The formula is advertised as specially designed for people who suffer from the negative consequences of daily stress that affects their productivity and overall sense of well-being. It is claimed to produce noticeable effects within a very short period of time (1/2-2 hours) that last throughout the day. The formula can be used by itself or in combination with other vitamin or nutritional supplements with boosting effects. However, according to the advertising message, using Proloftin (Primal Calm) on a regular basis will guarantee its full effectiveness without the common side effects associated with such formulas (like drowsiness).

Proloftin includes a blend of 5 key ingredients that are advertised as pure, patented and clinically researched ingredients. They are all natural anti-stress sources claimed to assist the body in various different ways to fight against stress factors and to help restore its natural balance. Proloftin (Primal Calm) is marketed as a non-stimulant and side-effect free supplement. The quality and potency claims issued by the producer cannot be verified (due to a lack of consistent information and of a official page for this formula).

Proloftin Ingredients

Proloftin contains the following ingredients: Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphatidylserine, L-Theanine, Magnolia Bark , Beta-sitosterol, Rhodiola Rosea, gelatin (capsule), Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide, and Microcrystalline cellulose.

Product Features

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a natural occurring substance from the lipids class of compounds. The substance present in the membranes of almost every cell in the human body and is considered one of the most important chemicals for the maintenance of healthy cognitive function (particularly memory) and for reducing excess Cortisol levels resulted from intense exercise (which results in reduced muscle soreness and increased sense of well-being). One of the main conditions for a product based on this substance to be effective is to contain a high enough amount of active substance. It has been observed that supplements that contain less than 400 mg of Phosphatidylserine per serving failed to show any effect in reducing Cortisol production and hence lowering stress.

Today the common source of supplemental PS is soy, but most of the studies involving this compound were made on the animal sourced compound (which was initially used within nutritional supplements). The use of this substance is considered likely safe in most people.

L-Theanine is the main active compound in Green tea, and is a highly appreciated substance for its anti-oxidant, calming and non-sedative properties. This particular formula includes a patented form of this substance called Suntheanine, advertised as the only product to contain 100% L-theanine on the market. Researchers discovered that the substance influences the alpha brainwaves, responsible for the positive and relaxed state of the brain. Another important aspect is that although the substance has a potent calming effect, it does not cause any drowsiness, a common side effect that often interferes with one’s ability to perform certain actions (such as driving). L-Theanine may also improve sleeping patterns and mood and prevent neuro-degenerative conditions due to its ability to cross the blood brain barrier. Short-term use of Theanine is considered likely safe, but long-term side effects have not been thoroughly evaluated.

The recommended daily dosage of Proloftin is 2 capsules per day, preferably with a meal.

Advantages

  • Sufficient information about the formula is available for online consulting
  • The formula comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee
  • The active ingredients are described in detail and have been the subject of various clinical trials and scientific research
  • The formula comes with a “3 for the price of 1” deal (1 free bottle for three bottles purchased)

Disadvantages

  • Proloftin reviews are reduced in number and the formula itself does not seem to be involved in any scientific study
  • The monthly price is high (even without additional costs such as shipping charges)
  • An official page of the manufacturer could not be identified

Conclusion

Proloftin is marketed as a natural anti-stress formula that is most effective when used with consistency. The supplement is claimed as highly safe and side effect free, but these claims are not backed up by conclusive evidence. The composition of this supplement includes a relatively reduced number of active substances that have been shown to reduce Cortisol levels and help with stress management. Expensive
Although this supplement features common ingredients used to reduce stress symptoms, its price is relatively high as compared to similar formulations.

The main disadvantage is the lack of sufficient support from its potential consumers (insufficient number of testimonials) and any information about adverse reactions and drug interactions, More so, Proloftin is claimed to be side effect free, which is hard to believe, as some of the key ingredients were reported to cause some unwanted effects when misused or used by certain categories of people (such as pregnant women). It is highly recommended to consult a healthcare practitioner before using any unapproved supplements, such as this one.
