Motivation is a pre-workout supplement for sustaining mental energy and focus, along with giving a boost in physical energy. It’s sold by California company Ryno Power, which appears to have been founded in September 2010. They claim to have designed a supplement profile for all levels of workouts, from moderate to extreme intensity. Products are made in NSF and certified GMP facilities which pass FDA inspection. They pride themselves on using high quality organic ingredients, and say “there is nothing better for you and your body than Ryno Power.”

Ingredients

Motivation contains the following ingredients: C (20 mg), Vitamin B-6 (4 mg), Pantothenic Acid (30 mg), Guarana Seed (360 mg), L-Tyrosine (334 mg), L-Taurine (200 mg), DMAE Bitartrate (66 mg), Ginkgo Biloba (40 mg), Vinpocetine (10 mg), Inositol (108 mg), Glucoronolactone (108 mg), Bioperine (5 mg), L-Theanine (100 mg).

Product Features

There are 14 main ingredients in this supplement, 3 of which are vitamins. This includes L-Tyrosine, DMAE, and the always popular Ginkgo Biloba. L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid found in various products and foods. People take L-Tyrosine for depression, ADHD, narcolepsy, improving alertness, alleviating stress, and other potential benfits. It can have a variety of brain-boosting effects, and amino acids are always wonderful for penetrating the blood-brain barrier. Some people can get headaches or nausea from taking too much L-Tyrosine, if their bodies aren’t used to it. The most common dose is 150 mg a day and people new to nootropics may start with less. Motivation contains 334 mg of L-Tyrosine per serving (two capsules).

DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol DL-bitartrate in this product) is an organic compound that may improve memory, mood, energy levels, and add some mental stimulation. Not in the same way as caffeine, though. It may help with physical performance when combined with ginseng and/or various vitamins and minerals. Because of DMAE’s effects on the mind, it’s sometimes called “a mind health compound.” Women who are pregnant or nursing should not take DMAE supplements. Since Motivation is a pre-workout supplement, it’s unlikely this demographic would purchase the product, but they should still be warned. Always consult with your doctor if you have any doubts or questions about a supplement you’re interested in.

Advantages

  • Good variety of nootropic ingredients and the addition of vitamins is a plus.
  • No added sweeteners, salt, preservatives, or junk ingredients (aside from unnecessary coloring).

Disadvantages

  • Contains artificial colors (Green #3 and Yellow #5) and capsules are made from gelatin. Some people prefer gelatin capsules, although this isn’t a vegetarian-friendly option.
  • Somewhat low potency formula. It needs refining and optimization to exceed its competitors. There’s also an over-reliance on caffeine for energy production.

Conclusion

Judging from the formula and the supplement’s reviews, Motivation appears average. One person said you would be getting too many stimulants in each serving, while there were too many other ingredients trying to do too much. As a pre-workout product, this is a decent option. It can give you a relatively short term boost to physical and mental energy, keeping your mind clear and ready for action. This might not be intended as a daily supplement, and it’s rather inexpensive, so if you’re interested you should give it a try. Most people are at least moderately satisfied, and Ryno Power appears to be a trustworthy company.
