The main issue with synthetic ingredients is that you don’t always get what you pay for. In reality, synthetic ingredients are well known for their low absorption, poor bioavailability, and the fact that they drain the body’s reserves of other minerals and vitamins (e.g., cofactors) required for proper absorption of other nutrients.
At BrainReference we recognize that dietary supplements can be the source of many allergic responses either due to cross-contamination with high-allergen compounds during the manufacturing process or because they incorporate ingredients obtained from high-risk allergenic foods (milk, eggs, or fish).
Companies with less integrity will use dangerous fillers as a “grease or lube” to aid in easier and faster production. Artificial dyes and colors are used to make supplements more appealing to the eye. Coatings are added to make capsules easier to swallow. How do these fillers impact your body and health?
Independent testing labs are not associated with the producing company, ingredients supplier, the company whose name appears on the product, or with the consumer. This means independent testing labs have no vested interest in the result of the testing and are less likely to “dry lab” or manipulate test results for self-serving reasons.
Micro Mins Plus is advertised as a product that promotes overall health and wellness. It is developped by Lifeplus, a company with over 35 years’ experience in developing and selling products that promote well-being. They have a very wide product range, including, but not limited to: health supplements, hygiene products, and sports accessories.
Lifeplus claims that what makes Micro Mins Plus so potent is the formulation of ingredients, most of which are extracted from humic shale deposits from life forms that date back from prehistoric time. They say that due to the lush vegetation that was present at that time, the content of minerals from the supplement is even more potent than normal mineral formulations available on the market.
Micro Mins Plus Ingredients
Micro Mins Plus contains: Organic Humic Shale, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Potassium Bicarbonate,Magnesium Sulfate, Croscarmellose Sodium, Stearic Acid, PhytoZyme ®proprietary blend (Bromelain, Papain, Aloe Vera, Alfalfa, Parsley, and vegetable and fruit concentrates from Carrots, Broccoli, Spinach, Cauliflower, Asparagus, Celery, Beet, Chili Pepper, Green Bean, Pea, Sweet Potato, Cucumber, Pumpkin, Snow Pea, Tomato, Zucchini, Lima Beans, Mushroom, Banana, Cantaloupe, Cranberry, Guava, Lemon, Mango, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pineapple and Grapefruit), Magnesium Stearate, Silica, Hydroxypropylcellulose, and Ethylcellulose.
Micro Mins Plus is a multi-mineral formulation, combining a large amount of ingredients in order to reach the product goal of improving overall well being.
The ingredient stated as most important by the manufacturer is the Organic Humic Shale, or, better said, the minerals contained in it. The explanation given is that, in prehistoric times, the lush vegetation provided a wide array of nutrients in much more concentrated forms than we have them now. When the vegetation started dying and decomposing into the soil, the nutrients were preserved, making the minerals extracted from this component highly potent.
Although the explanation provided by the manufacturer seems plausible, they do not back it up with any scientific evidence. As a matter of fact, despite the rich content in minerals and potentially beneficial substances, there is little proof that the supplement as a whole works, due to there being no evidence of clinical trials having been done.

Generally speaking, supplements promoting overall health and well-being have proven slightly questionable, due to their unspecific nature. This remains true in the case of Micro Mins Plus, due to the lack of medical evidence behind the product claims. Usually, the purpose of multi-vitamin or multi-mineral supplements is to improve the life quality of people that suffer from deficiencies of said minerals, but they often prove ineffective in the case of already healthy people.
Granted, people that tried Micro Mins Plus report having experienced positive effects from it, such as weight loss, decreased muscle pain and ease concentrating of tasks. Ultimately, this leaves it up to the customer to decide whether this supplement is right for them or not, following research and discussions with their doctors.
