BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin is one of the many products on the market that claim to help keep the mind in the best shape while facilitating good sleeping habits. The product is sold as an unflavored powder that can be added over food or into a beverage of one’s choice. This supplement is produced by BiProUSA.

According to its producers, BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin, an isolated whey protein, is one of the purest forms of alpha-lactalbumin used in supplements. The product also contains Tryptophan, an amino acid that, based on several studies, has the property to improve the overall sleep quality and morning alertness, mood under stress and cognitive performance under stress.

The producing company states that their product contains no fat, no carbohydrates, no sugars and no lactose.

BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin Ingredients

BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin contains: Soy Lecithin, Protein, Calcium, Phosphorus, Sodium Potassium, Typtophan and Alpha-lactalbumin

Product Features

BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin is an amino-acid formulation that promotes better sleep while also improving mental functions. Alpha-Lactalbumin is a protein that also contains low levels of minerals: phosphorus, calcium and potassium, and Tryptophan, an amino-acid that’s also found in other protein sources like beef, milk, eggs and turkey.

Recent studies have suggested that Tryptophan supports a good, peaceful sleep. A few years ago, Tryptophan and turkey made headlines for several popular articles and studies on why people often felt drowsy after Thanksgiving dinner (which traditionally contains turkey meat). According to the manufacturer, BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin contains the highest natural source of Tryptophan available on the market at this moment.

Another important ingredient is Soy Lecithin which was added to help the powder dissolve in solid and liquid foods alike. The ingredient is usually used as an emulsified in aliments like peanut butter or margarine to keep water and fats from separating.

  • Contains high amounts of Tryptophan.
  • It doesn’t contains fat, carbohydrates, sugars or lactose.
  • Some recipes are provided.

  • Product is quite expensive at almost $50 a jar.
  • The protein powder may be unpleasant to some.
  • There are no customer testimonials available.
  • There is no trial sample.

There is no doubt that Tryptophan can contribute to sleep (as it is a precursor to Melatonin, an extremely important hormone in sleeping patterns). However, while Tryptophan is a key amino-acid, BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin is not proving in any way that it is better than similar products or that it offers significant benefits that couldn’t be found in other more palatable proteins (turkey meat for instance).

Taking into consideration its price (almost $50 per jar), this product should be offering consumers benefits like cutting-edge technology. We have found a series of less expensive natural products with superior features, like a Micro Vortex Enteric Coating which protects active ingredients from stomach acid to ensure their delivery and integrity.

The lack of positive testimonials, or any testimonials as a matter of fact, is also a huge step back.

  1. 1

The reviewer is wrong about all things with tryptophan being equal. And wrongly discounts and dissuades others from using Biozzz based on non-factors, when it might be their best option. I understand how he or she got it wrong, because most doctors even have it wrong, but it is devastating misinformation to review this product low and then to explain why based on faulty understanding of how these complex body systems interact with each other and nutrition. I encourage this site to remove the article and write a revised article/review and feel free to use the information to follow, because it is super important. We think of reviews as being about products, but what we really want to know is does the product work and that question begins with understanding what need it is trying to fill and why it is superior to other options. This is especially important if you or someone in your life actually has low serotonin (and melatonin, because they come from the same source – tryptophan), especially if it has reached seriously low levels which can be caused by many medications and other health conditions…including the SSRIs most commonly used to treat low serotonin (that was a shock). The connection with SSRI’s is a long explanation in itself – just know – they are dangerous to anyone with low serotonin and anyone with a low serotonin induced problem (I cannot stress enough – go do your research – you will find that statement to be true). So on to the Biozzz/tryptophan/serotonin/melatonin/mood/sleep connection. Food can’t compete once someone is clinically low, because the body has preferences of which amino acids that it uses first…and tryptophan is at the bottom of the list…AND not only is it at the bottom of the preferential use list for the body, but most other amino acids are more prevalent in food (other amino acids individually have a higher ratio compared to tryptophan). This means that when eaten with competing amino acids, your body doesn’t utilize it well. To give you an analogy, it is like suffocating in a room full of oxygen when carbon monoxide is present, because the body will preferentially utilize carbon monoxide first. This is what happens with tryptophan. The only way to increase the body’s processing of it (to reap the benefits) especially when it is needed in large amounts because there is a serious deficit is to increase the ratio of tryptophan to other amino acids. What in nature has the highest concentration of tryptophan? Human breast milk. What specifically in human milk? Alpha-lactalbumin (a specific protein)! Is it in other animal milks? Yes, but not in the same proportions. BioPro isolated this important protein in their Biozzz product. Currently the highest concentrated amount (and highest ratio) of alpha-lactalbumin available is in Biozzz. Serotonin and melatonin are both derived from typtophan. The key components that we’ve discovered seem to be: raise the tryptophan ratio as compared to competing amino acids, sufficient magnesium (Epsom salt baths are good additions), sunlight – and if trapped indoors – full spectrum daylights, and carbohydrates (also reduce other sources of protein, especially animal proteins). The process that the body uses to produce serotonin requires carbs. We made the mistake, like most people of looking up foods high in tryptophan and initially having our loved one load heavy from the list on things like eggs and turkey, which was completely the wrong approach. Low serotonin/melatonin has been linked to neurological problems, mood problems, sleep problems, and is just now being linked to physical issues such as incontinence and lack of experiencing flavor in food. This is so important to quality of life and we have not found any another source other than Biozzz that fits the bill. We are seeing marked improvements in our loved one and have now started incorporating it into our own diets as a regular supplement, as well.
